The Albuquerque Film Industry
Albuquerque has a long history as a Hollywood go-to for popular films. The city has been a rising star since serving as a backdrop for popular Westerns of the 50s and 60s. Today, it is known worldwide for Emmy Award-winning TV series such as “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul.” In addition, Academy Award-winning movies such as “No Country for Old Men” and pop culture blockbusters like “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” have filmed here.
In 2020, Netflix Studios announced plans to expand its already substantial footprint in Albuquerque, as well as its local television and film production services. NBCUniversal opened a TV and film studio location downtown, and multiple production-related companies with headquarters in larger cities made strategic decisions to open a divisional office in Albuquerque.
Albuquerque’s film ecosystem simply can’t be beat. The City’s experienced crew, diverse vendors, and competitive incentives, combined with natural assets conducive to a low-stress, healthful existence make Albuquerque the clear alternative to filming on the coasts.
